It doesn't look like like Jim Carrey's career is over just yet. Carrey will play Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol, an adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale that Robert Zemeckis wrote and will direct for Walt Disney Pictures.

Zemeckis will shoot the film using "performance capture/Disney digital 3-D" animation, a continuing evolution of techniques he introduced in The Polar Express and continues with the upcoming Beowulf.

A Christmas Carol will also feature a touch of live action and computer graphics, the latter of which was used in the wonderful Monster House.

Zemeckis wrote the script specifically with Carrey in mind and the actor said yes straight away.

Allow me to TMI you with this fact:

The animated Christmas Carol that used to come on every year scared the living shit out of me. I used to have nightmares about Goofy in the shackles of eternal damnation. Who decided this was a kids' story?

And thus solidifies my reputation as a total badass.
