The Writers Guild of America have announced their nominees for best screenplay, they are:
Original Screenplay
Juno - Diablo Cody
Michael Clayton - Tony Gilroy
The Savages - Tamera Jenkins
Knocked Up - Judd Apatow
Lars and the Real Girl - Nancy Oliver
Adapted screenplay
No Country for Old Men - Joel and Ethan Coen
There Will Be Blood - Paul Thomas Anderson
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - Ronald Harwood
Into the Wild - Sean Penn
Zodiac - James Vanderbilt
Good to see Knocked Up getting some award attention, if for nothing else than to see what they can do with it in ads for his future films. Adding Oscar nominee in front "from the guy who brought you The 40 Year-Old Virgin" really adds some prestige to it. I always like the screenplay categories because they seem to nominate original choices, not following suit with all the previous awards. This once again puts a damper on Atonement's and Sweeney Todd's Oscar hopes now not being nominated in this or the DGA. This is a ver good list though. All of these films (other than The Savages which I haven't seen) were in my top ten or runners up for the year.
Posting this from my phone so sorry again for any mistakes.
